my birthday gift to you:

Redhead Sauce

(all quantities approximate. vary according to your own tastes.)

  • 1 1/2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup fresh squeezed orange juice
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup bourbon
  • 1-2 cloves garlic, sliced
  • 1 cube fresh ginger, diced
  • liberal salt and pepper seasoning
  • 1 tbsp texas tears or rooster sauce (or any other insanely hot sauce, optional)

  1. Combine all ingredients in heavy-bottomed sauce pan.
  2. Simmer on low heat for an hour or two, sauce should begin to thicken.
  3. Can be stored in the fridge for 2-3 weeks.
  4. I used this sauce to coat the breast of a chicken I was roasting. It's a particular good addition to any recipe that needs to bake in the oven a little bit. Makes a mind-blowing barbeque sauce as well.
