my birthday gift to you:
Redhead Sauce
(all quantities approximate. vary according to your own tastes.)
- 1 1/2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 cup fresh squeezed orange juice
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/2 cup bourbon
- 1-2 cloves garlic, sliced
- 1 cube fresh ginger, diced
- liberal salt and pepper seasoning
- 1 tbsp texas tears or rooster sauce (or any other insanely hot sauce, optional)
- Combine all ingredients in heavy-bottomed sauce pan.
- Simmer on low heat for an hour or two, sauce should begin to thicken.
- Can be stored in the fridge for 2-3 weeks.
- I used this sauce to coat the breast of a chicken I was roasting. It's a particular good addition to any recipe that needs to bake in the oven a little bit. Makes a mind-blowing barbeque sauce as well.
