i was moody and blue most of the weekend. still feeling kind of lonely and adrift, i guess. i think i'm finally ready to start looking for a job. but i had about the perfect sunday.

tankengine and the chess champion came over and we puffed on some wacky tabacky. then we collected j and s and strolled over the williamsburg bridge. we headed to tomkins square park and located h and found a sunny spot to drop our blankets. for charlie parker's birthday, there was free jazz in the park. it was incredibly crowded but we managed to find a nice place in a the grove of trees with the speakers pointed directly at us. i'd packed a small picnic of wine, cheese, and trailmix. we all rolled around and enjoyed the perfect weather, chatting about the republican convention, jazz standards, tropical islands. i remembered my dad telling me that listening to jazz makes you smarter.

speaking of republicans. i'm embarking on a new project, called 'take a republican to lunch'. i don't actually know any republicans who live in new york, so i posted an ad on craig's list. i've already received an astonishing number of responses, and i have my first lunch on friday. i'll let you know what happens!
