Last days, little light
Each end comes up so short that
We keep carrying the remainder
To the next calendar page
I'm burning in this cloak of dark
I smell like whiskey and cough drops
Teasing my demons, appealing to the better angels
And aching like the one true cross
This little light is all I have left
And I'm saving it for breakfast
