art show weekend here in nyc. i saw so much art (and so much bad bad art) that i'm still not thinking straight. it really calls attention to the fact that looking at and digesting art requires a certain amount of energy and attention. in that sense, an international art fair is sort of like running a marathon. i did the scope show at the dylan with F on friday night. we had to squish into an overloaded elevator with oodles of euros. their leather pants made it more difficult to pack everyone in. F named names and managed to get our hands stamped for half-price. it still wasn't entirely worth it. highlight: a friend's painting looked awesome. i didn't even know it was his and i liked it right away.

F also did the massive armory show on saturday, i demurred to hang aorund my studio and sell paint. but saturday eve, all the galleries in this sector had parties from 8p-11p and we trolled around to those as well. a friend's band was supposed to play, but the gig was cancelled. we ran into an old friend who has been away from the burg for about two years. later, i escorted a curator from berlin to a few shows. F volunteered to drive. at the end of the evening, she said 'if you two have work you want to show in berlin, just email me'. yes, please! i went to berlin this last summer and loved every minute of it. even though my passport and wallet were stolen.
